WHY DO AUSTRALIANS HATE THEIR HISTORY?
Have you ever asked yourself why do I hate my own country?
What is my desired outcome by sharing my hated history with others?
What is the resolution to this national hatred?
Young Australians hate their history, and it’s becoming very destructive. We have all been manipulated into hating our history and questioning our value within our own countries, stirring up feelings of self-hatred and overall shame. I think it’s sad people feel shame around the word Australia, and we have become so accustomed to hate speech that hating our history only feels normal.
Twenty years ago, I was celebrating Australia Day at a barbeque with my Greek neighbours. We applied Australia Day face tattoos, ate sausages on the barbeque, played in the pool and had the most fun. Australia day was always a holiday that resembled unification, local pride and most importantly a celebration of our blessed life within this wonderful country. Now, the sight of an Australia Day celebration is frowned upon, and I find that sad. People argue we are ‘more educated’ today, but I dont see overall IQ increasing; I do see ways to influence and manipulate people becoming a lot easier and more scientific however, intelligence rising, I think not; COVID was a good example of that or this conversation we are having right now.
People really hate our country, and it's so evident; my challenge is how to cure hatred when we have zero leadership and direction within this country. Something I do know is misery is a disease, and when you engage with it, you get sick; that being said, if we do not challenge our current way of thinking, our nation will fail, and we will turn into one of the many great empires that failed, something I am terrified is coming. If you are reading this right now, what is your desired outcome regarding hating our history? What do you want to accomplish by thinking this way?
I cannot change the minds or the world alone; if I could, the world would be a more cohesive and respectful place to live in. I can. However, plant seeds to help you question your own way of thinking and truly ask yourself why you hate your country? What has changed within the past 20 years for me to feel this way? What is my desired outcome thinking this way? How can I heal my relationship with the country and work towards a unified nation?
We cannot erase the past, ever, and we cannot apologise for the past forever. We have got to work on healing our country, not dividing it. This division is not helping anyone outside of the parties, causing mass destruction within our nation. Do you want to be a part of the destruction or a part of the rebuilding process? The choice is yours to make.
